Sacrament of Reconciliation: Before weekday Masses

Rite of Reconciliation of Several Penitents with Individual Confession and Absolution: This liturgical
celebration will take place on Sun., April 9 at 2 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, River Bourgeois. It is a
celebration of God's Word, followed by an opportunity to go to individual confession.

Chrism Mass: Bishop Raymond Lahey will bless the Oil of Catechumens, Oil of Chrism and Oil of the Sick at
the Chrism Mass. The Oil of Catechumens is used to strengthen children before their baptism and adults
(catechumens) preparing for baptism. The Oil of Chrism is used in the sacraments of baptism (crown of the
head), confirmation (forehead), and ordination (hands) sealing those who are anointed with particular gifts of
the Holy Spirit. The Oil of the Sick is used in the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. This year our two
R.C.I.A. candidates for confirmation and Eucharist, Paulina Gale and Charlene Mombourquette will receive the
oils from the Bishop for the Parish. The oils will be brought up in the Procession of Gifts on Holy Thursday.
Charlene and Paulina will make their First Communion and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.

First Communion Parent Meeting: Wednesday, April 26th at 7:30 p.m. in the church.
Confirmation Registration: Registration for confirmation will be held on Sun., April 30 at 2 p.m. in the
church. Any parents in the parish, whose unconfirmed children are in grades 8 to 11 are encouraged to attend.
Fr. Barrett will give an overview of his newly-revised confirmation program. Classes will begin in September,
with confirmation being held sometime in the Spring of 2007.

Artistic Donations for the Church: Sometimes, people make things expecting the items to be placed in the
Church. This is problematic because, very often, the items arrive with no prior communication. While not
denying that love is creative, if you are planning to make something for the church please get in touch with Fr.
Barrett first to discuss the matter. People can make a monetary donation, in memory of a loved one, to help
purchase any needed items for the church (for example, altar supplies, hymn books, etc). Thankyou.

Good Friday: Just a reminder that Good Friday is a day of abstinence from meat for those between the ages of
14 and 60 (good health). There will be a church practice for readers and servers on Sun., April 9 at 7 p.m.
Easter Vigil Practice: There will be a practice for readers and servers on Wed., April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the
church.

Bulletin Announcements: bulletin announcements can be e-mailed to: patriciasamson_25@hotmail.com

Getting in touch with Fr. Barrett: If you want to talk to Fr. Barrett about something or to get something
(blessing of religious article, Mass card, etc.), please call the glebe first. If he is not home, please leave a
message and he will get back to you as soon as possible. Thankyou.
