L'Ardoise C@P Site: GOOD NEWS!!! The CapSite will re-open on Monday, December 11 for 20 hours per
week. Hours of operation will be from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Cecile will continue to work at the
capsite as co-ordinator. NB. The capsite will be closed during Christmas week but will re-open on January 2nd ,

Employment Opportunity: The Cap Site will undertake a 10-week youth initiative project. The youth hired
through this initiative will carry out activities associated with a community based Heritage and Genealogy
project. The project is to begin on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Eligible applicants must be between the ages of
15-30; a Canadian citizen; a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution such as college, university,
school of technology; a youth who has completed at least one course at the university or other post-secondary
institution; have a knowledge of computer programs and skills. Application deadline is Wednesday, December

Jesse Tree: Each Advent, the Social Action Committee has the Jesse Tree in the sanctuary. A Jesse Tree is
decorated with symbols of Christ's ancestors. The Committee is requesting monetary donations. A reminder
that donations for the Social Action Committee can be pinned on the Jesse Tree. There will be envelopes
available for you, at the base of the tree, to place your donation in. Please put your church number on the
envelope, so that you can get credit for your donation. The money will be used throughout the year for needy
families.

Symbols of the Jesse Tree: The burning bush - God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush, which
burned but was not consumed; a symbol of the Virgin Birth of Christ. The Tablets of the Law - The Law of
Moses as symbolized in the tablets which God gave to Moses on Mount Sinai was fulfilled in Christ who brings
a law of love. The Crown and Sceptre - The crown and sceptre signify Christ's universal kingship. Water Jug
- John the Baptist used water to baptize Jesus.

Angel Tree: This Christmas, we will have our Angel Tree(s) once again. Angels donated in previous years
will be hung on the trees. If anyone would like to donate a new angel in memory of someone, please put it in a
box at the church entrance. Attach the name of the deceased and who it is from to the angel. Angels are to be
no more than three to four inches in height.

Adult Choir Practice will take place on Monday, December 11th and Monday, December 18th at 6 p.m. in the
Church to prepare for the Christmas Season.

World Youth Day Group: Bake Sale on Sunday, December 10th. This will be held prior to the Christmas
Concert.

Sacrament of Reconciliation; Fr. Everett MacDow will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in
Holy Guardian Angels Church on Saturday, December 16th between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. During Advent,
we are invited to change our lives and our hearts. God wants us to prepare for his coming by doing good. Each
day we ought to look at our faults and weaknesses, and ask our Father to help us to follow Jesus more closely.

Remember Someone Special at Christmas with an "Angel Wish". The Richmond Villa is holding their
Annual Christmas Fundraiser on Sunday, December 10th at 2 p.m. - Dedication Ceremony. If you would like to

Children's Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 10th at 1 p.m. at the Community Center. Admission:
adults $4.00 and children under 12 - $2.00. Tickets on the basket for World Youth Day group will be drawn at
the concert. Door prizes. Light lunch served. Sponsored by L'Ardoise Volunteer Fire Department and World
Youth Day group. Come celebrate the spirit of Christmas with our youth in our community.

Decorating the Church for Christmas will take place on Sunday, December 17th beginning at 1:30p.m.
Afterwards, parishioners are invited to the glebe for a "Christmas Tree Decorating Party."

Eastern Counties Regional Library will be visiting: St Peters (East Richmond Education Center) on
Tuesday, December 12th from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and 6 - 7:30 p.m. This library service is free to the public.

Country Christmas Celebration: Calvin Church, Loch Lomond on December 10th at 3 p.m. with the St. Giles
Presbyterian Choir from North Sydney. Ceilidh following service. All Welcome!

Annual Christmas Concert at the Lakeside Community Center, Sampsonville on Sunday, December 17 ; at
7:30 p.m. Please join us for an evening filled with traditional Christmas music, laughter and good food. Admission:$4.00

Ultreya: A reminder to all cursillistas and challengers that our next Richmond Ultreya will be held on
December 19th at 7:30 p.m. at the Louisdale Parish Hall. Our Richmond challengers will be organizing this
night and they have something special planned for the evening. We know that it is a busy time for everyone but
this is a perfect time to take a few hours to sit, relax, and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Hope to see
you there!!

Parish Census Update: Thus far, seventy three census forms have been passed in at the glebe. Census takers
are reminded to pass in their forms to Maryanne by December 18th. If you were not counted and would like to
be included, please contact the glebe.
