8 a.m. & 7:00 p.m. The weekdays of Lent are a time of penance for the Church around
the world. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence from meat. Fasting is a
time-honoured religious practice. It was used over the centuries as an aid to
concentration hi prayer. Modern Church teaching tells us that fasting (eating just one full
meal per day) and abstinence (doing without meat) must be combined with prayer and
works of charity (almsgiving) for genuine Christian living. All Catholics between the
ages of 14 and 59 who are in good health are obliged to fast and abstain.A BIG THANK YOU to all those who were involved in the painting and making
improvements to the little room below the sacristy where we meet each Sunday for the
Children's Liturgy of the Word. It looks so clean and inviting! We appreciate your work
and the giving of your time. God bless you.
CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN: In belonging to the Holy Childhood Association
our children have promised 1) to pray for 2) to learn about and 3) to share with children
in need. On the First Sunday of Lent, Feb. 25 they will again be given the little green
HCA boxes so they may share what they have with children in India. They may add to
the boxes until Good Friday, April 6, at which time they are asked to return them to the
church.Pilgrimage to Ste. Anne de Beaupre and Cap-de-la-Madeleine: Leaving Inverness

p.m.Thank You: We wish to extend our gratitude to all who supported us in many ways in
the event of Darren's critical illness. Your generosity in the form of prayers, cards, Mass enrollments, phone calls and monetary donations is deeply appreciated. To the Adult
Choir members who sponsored and organized the Feb. 3 benefit, and to all who gave their
time, talent, and financial support to the event, we offer our sincere thanks. Such
overwhelming support will be remembered and cherished forever. God bless you all, -
Walter, Sharon & Darren Martell.Building Committee: We are forming a committee to look at the future of our buildings.
It is our hope that by asking a lot of "What if?" questions, we will be able to make
recommendations to the Diocese. In other words, we will have a say in our future as
opposed to having the decisions made for us from afar. Thus far, there are five members
on the committee: Ken Pottie and Scott Mombourquette (Finance Committee), Paula
Sampson and Kathleen Bona (Parish Pastoral Council), and Fr. Barrett. We are looking
for two more members at large. If anyone who has an interest or experience with real
estate, participation in the committee would be greatly appreciated, If interested, please
call Scott Mombourquette. Thank you.
