World Day of Consecrated Life: In 1997, Pope John Paul II instituted World Day for Consecrated Life which
is to be celebrated on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2, 2006. This celebration calls us to be
mindful of the men and women who choose to live their baptismal commitment through the profession of the
vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and gives us an opportunity to pray for future vocations t this life. To
bring awareness of the feast to a larger population, Sr. Agnes Campbell, Congregation of Notre Dame (C.N.D.)
will speak at our Masses the weekend of February 4 & 5. She will be accompanied by Sr. Florence Rankin,
C.N.D.

Club will be hosting a Valentine's Variety Concert at the L'Ardoise Community Center on Sunday February
12th from 2-5 p.m.. Local talent will be featured, lunch will be served, 50-50 ticket draw, door prizes, and
canteen service will be available. Admission is $5.00. Children under 10 admitted free. Storm date: February
19th.

Sunday morning Children's Program: You may have seen some children going into the vestry at the
beginning of Mass and you may have wondered what was happening. We have begun a Children's Program
that takes place during the Liturgy of the Word. Because the readings are often difficult, we are trying to put
them into simple words or simple stories so that the children will understand more easily. The lessons are
already prepared and they usually include an activity. The children are only away from the congregation until
the collection, so they do not miss the Liturgy of the Eucharist. This program is open to any child, whether they
follow the Religious Education Program or not. If there are any youth or adults who would like to lead one of
these sessions once in a while, please tell Father Barrett. Volunteers may only have to serve once in three
months. Thank you to all the people who have already participated.

Thank You to the Men's Club: The Religious Education classes would like to acknowledge a $200.00
donation made by the Men's Club in memory of John L. Martell. We plan to have costumes made for our
annual Christmas pageant. The use of these costumes during our Children's Christmas Mass will be a fitting
tribute to John L., faithful servant in our parish community and a past president of the Men's Club. Thank you
sincerely.

Thank You: I would like to thank everyone for their best wishes, telephone calls, beautiful cards and gifts. It
was very thoughtful and appreciated. Sheila Mombourquette

The World Youth Group has been busy making fundraising arrangements for the trip to Australia in July
2008. We set the goal of raising $12,000.00 to cover the cost of arrangements for Stephen and Caitlin. We are
kicking off our fundraising campaign with the Take a Can - Fill a Can initiative. You will find bottles and
cans of juice at the entrances to the church. Please take one, enjoy the beverage and return the container on the
weekend of February 25-26 filled with coins.
Our next Spring endeavor will be the Vesey Seeds Spring Bulb Campaign. We will be taking orders for bulbs
which will arrive in plenty of time for planting.
Also, we have placed a box at the main entrance of the Church for Canadian Tire Money. We will be collecting
this money until late spring, early summer. The money will be used to purchase some of the prizes for our
Merchandise Bingo (Details at a later date).
Besides the fundraising efforts, there is also an account set up at the East Coast Credit Union (L'Ardoise). Cash
donations can be made directly at the Credit Union and a receipt will be issued.

Thank You: The family of the late John L. Martell want to give very special thanks to the L'Ardoise Church
Choir for singing at John's funeral, the beautiful job you did on all of John's favorite hymns. We were greatly
comforted by your beautiful voices and we are sure that John sang along with you in Spirit. Also thank you for
the very special Mass card signed by all of you. God Bless you being there. Gladys, Isabelle, Joanne, Walter
and Michael
