Church Sound System: The church sound system has been recently
evaluated and adjusted by Mr. Albert
MacKinnon of Sydney, who just put in a new sound system in St. Joseph's Church,
North Sydney. Sometimes,
the portable microphone does not work at the altar. The reason for this is the
side speakers put out sound
directly and the sound cancels itself out. Otherwise, we have a fairly good
sound system, good microphones and
good phantom power. The phantom power assures that the sound is distributed
evenly amongst all of the
speakers. There are six speakers feeding into the amplifier. The speakers are
called monitor speakers, and are
really more suited for a band. The amplifier is for musical instruments. Although
the amplifier and speakers
are no longer made, the cones in the speakers should not dry out for at least
another five years. It is then that we
ought to look at a new sound system. It would mean the removal of the current
side speakers, and the
placement of three smaller ceiling speakers directly above and in front of the
congregation. The altar would be
behind the speakers.
Diocesan Youth Event: Live Concert "Janelle": The Diocese
of Antigonish is excited to sponsor a great
afternoon of music (and more) at this youth focused, family friendly concert
featuring Janelle and her band,
One80. Janelle sang for Pope John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth II, and
has opened for Christian musician
Michael W. Smith. She sang the Official Theme Song at World Youth Day 2002.
Her three CD releases have
been smash hits and have won many awards, including three "Artist of the
Year" and one "Album of the Year."
