World Mission Sunday: Today is World Mission Sunday. We celebrate the
call of Jesus: "You
are my witnesses." Love is the soul of mission and we are first and foremost
invited to be credible
witnesses by the way we live as disciples of Christ. Let us be generous in our
loving support of the
mission work of the universal Church.
Service; One very pra:tical way many laypeople serve in their parishes
is through parish ministries
or work. Parish ministries are all the jobs people do to keep the parish running
smoothly and to
make Mass meaningful and prayerful. Here are a few parish ministries found in
most Catholic
parishes: Parish Pastoral Council - This is an advisory board
of elected or appointed parish
members who help the pastor with pastoral duties. Lector ~ These
are readers of the Scripture
lessons, except for the gospel at Mass (with the exceptions of Palm Sunday and
Good Friday).
Eucharistic Ministers ~ These are trained members of the laity
who help with the distribution of
Holy Communion. Ministers of Music- These include the church musicians,
cantors (song
leaders) and members of the choir. Mass Servers ~ Those who help
at the altar during Mass.
Parish Pastoral Council: The pastoral council will meet on Tuesday,
October 24th @ 7 p.m. in the
Community Centre.
Faith Formation Committee: The faith formation committee will meet on
Monday, October 30th
@ 7 p.m. in Maureen's house. Bring sweets. Tea provided.

45's Card Game:Over the next few months many people from our community,
along with friends from nearby
will gather on Saturday evening for a lucky chance at 45's. More importantly
a great social event with friends.
Whatever the reason, this regular event has been a tremendous financial help
to the expenses of our center. To
continue preparing for the game every Saturday there is always the chore of
setting up the tables and clean up
afterward. People also enjoy the food hospitality each week. Items needed are
stir sticks, napkins, styrofoam
cups, sugar packets, soda pop, paper plates, sandwiches, sweets. Anyone wishing
to make a contribution of any
of these items or help in any other way can contact Blanche or Stevie. We thank
you for
your support and hope that all will enjoy another fun-filled season of laughter
and fellowship.
