Explanation of Mass: On Wednesday, November 9th, Fr. Barrett will give an explanation of the Mass at 7:30
p.m. in the church. This demonstration is open to all parishioners, especially the parents and children and
adolescents of our religious education programs and those participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults begins with the period of
evangelization. This is a time, of no fixed duration or structure, for inquiry and introduction to gospel values;
an opportunity for the beginning of faith. Charlene Mombourquette and Paulina Gale, candidates for eucharist
and confirmation will be taking their first step: acceptance into the order of catechumens this Sunday (Oct.
30th) at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The acceptance into the order of catechumens is a liturgical rite or celebration
marking the beginning of the catechumenate proper as the candidates express, and the Church accepts their
intention to respond to God's call to follow the way of Christ.
The period of the catechumenate is the time, in
duration corresponding to the progress of the individual, for the nurturing and growth of the candidates' faith
and conversion to God. Celebrations of the word and prayers of blessing are meant to help them grow in faith,
and encourage them to ask Jesus to send his Spirit into their hearts.

Explanation of the Lord's Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven: we are the adopted daughters and sons
of God and so we can call God Father. We do not pray for ourselves alone, but as members of the Christian
community for the good of all. Hallowed be thy name: we are not saying we make God holy by prayers.
Rather we ask that God's name be made holy in us. Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in
heaven:
all that Jesus did and all that he taught was "the will of God." We pray that we may have help and
strength to do God's will. Give us this day our daily bread: spiritually, Christ himself is our bread of life; our
daily bread for the journey of faith to heaven. And forgive us our trespasses: we recognize our sinfulness
from God, we also acknowledge God's merciful love and forgiveness. As we forgive those who trespass
against us:
if we hope for forgiveness from God, we must be willing to forgive others. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil:
we pray to be kept safe from the power of evil and all that leads to evil.
