Acadian Festival Update: The 2008 L'Ardoise Acadian Festival committee is pleased to inform you to the following
additions to our program: Tickets for Saturday night dance with The Sons of Maxwell have been sold out.
Depending on weather conditions, the deck may be open...The RCMP Pipe and Drum Band will be part of our Festival Parade on Sunday, July 27 at 2 pm...Adult 50's, 60's Social on Wednesday, July 23rd. Join us for an adult social and dance to 50's and 60's music. Wine and cheese will be served, as well bar services. Try your luck with "spot dances", door prizes and best 50's and 60's costumes...Next festival meeting will be Sunday, July 13th at 2 pm in the basement of the Community Center. Anyone interested in helping contact a committee member...We are hoping to have a big parade this year and we are encouraging businesses, organizations, families and individuals to enter in our parade of floats. To register or for more information, please call Gary Peterson at 587-2958, Co-ordinator of Parade - Acadian Day Festival...MEALS are a very important part of our Acadian Festival. It is time now to think about helping out. We need help with the kitchen and dining room for breakfast and supper on Saturday, July 26th,as well as for dinner and supper on Sunday. Louise Wincey...We are looking for someone to clean up the hall after the dances on Friday and Saturday nights. The L'Ardoise C@P Site would like to inform the community of L'Ardoise and surrounding areas that the new summer hours at the C@p site are in effect starting Monday, June 2. The C@p site hours are as follows: Monday - 8:30 am- 12:00 noon; Tuesday - 12:00 noon -7:00 pm; Wednesday - 8:30 am - 4:40 pm; Thursday - 12 noon -7:00 pm; Friday - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Saturday 8:30 am - 12 noon.l We would like to you for your generous support over the years and hope to see everyone during the summer months.

Adult Choir Practice on Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 pm to prepare for the 7:00 pm Acadian Festival Mass.

"Building Households of Faith: All are Gifted, All are Disciples". A catechetical gathering to explore the newly
introduced whole parish catechesis model for pastors, faith formation coordinators, youth ministers and parents.
Catechesis is everyone's concern! November 14 & 15, 2008, Delta Sydney Hotel, Sydney, NS. Cost: early registration before September 30 --$70 per person, after $80 per person, includes conference material and one lunch. The L' Ardoise friends of Palliative Care on this their 3rd Annual Pokerwalk raised $2,500.00 for the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Unit. We would like to thank the fisherman of Little Harbour who donated the lobsters for the prizes, as well as the merchants who gave money and door prizes. The volunteers who worked, the people who purchased tickets on the Sidney Crosby Jersey, and especially those who donated and walked to raise this money. The L'Ardoise Friends of Palliative Care wish to donate this money in memory of Dr. Eric Downing. Thank you very much - Anna Bona

An outdoor Mass in honor of Our Ladv of Guadalupe will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine,
Johnstown, on Sunday, July 13th at 2:00 pm. A cordial invitation is extended to all who wish to attend.

Strawberry Festival: The 27th Annual Strawberry Festival will be held on Sunday, July 13th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm in the Johnstown Parish Hall, Johnstown. Come and enjoy a luncheon of tea biscuits, bannach, oatcakes and a heaping bowl of strawberries. Adults: $6.00. Children under 12- $3.00

Concert By The Sea will take place on Thursday, July 17th at the St Peters Church Grounds Bandshell. Start time is
6:00 pm and it runs until 7:30 pm and will be held rain or shine! Sponsored by Richmond County Tourism, Culture, and Recreation. Hope to see you there!

The 2008 Sand Castle Art Contests will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 12:00 noon at Pondville Beach on Isle
Madame and Sunday, June 20'hat 12:00 noon at Point Michaud Beach in Point Michaud. Cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50. will be awarded in Castle and Sculpture categories for 1st, 2nd,& 3rd place. All youth who register will receive a prize. Judging will begin at 4:00 pm, followed by awarding of prizes. Entry fee is $10. per site. Please bring your own tools and equipment such as a good shovel, buckets, spray guns, carving tools, etc. Sponsored by Richmond County Tourism, Culture, and Recreation, Hope to see you there!
